Names 4 THE LOWER ROSSES Full marks to Margo and her Band for playing free so as to make a night out for the senior citizens of the parish. There was no money left in the purse, so Margo made their night possible. It was amazing how few senior citizens were not there and I know some thought they would have to pay something towards the meal. The party went ahead as planned but somebody said the Kincasslagh people did not mix too well with the Acres folk. I think the absence of Big Norah was a factor, as she was good at getting people together. After the meal dancing got under ''ay and Candy and a Sister from the hospital won the waltzing competit– ion. Well, Neily Ward nearly fainted when he saw Condy >Jith the Nun. Allen had to get a Brandy with shockl But Big Gracie and Gharlie Neddy stole the night doing the Birdie dance. James Anthony was laughing and crying looking at Charlie. Allen only went out for the "smootchie 11 dances. He says the last man done the Birdie dance got hoofed, (but that does not rule him out for a birdiel). Fair play to Ann and Tull~' for their display of jiving. Badly missed this year were: Kate Connaghan, Julia, J. Ward - Johnnie Charlie Phaidin Charlie McCole and Mary Rose. Maybe ne~t year they will feel older. · There is a rumour going in the area that Denis Boyle - Denis John Teague, formerly of Rutland Island is starting a fish processing plant around Burtonport. Denis himself has a Skipper's licence and all his uncles were sea– c aptains of large cargo boats. Before coming home he was a Civil Engineer, both in England and in the North. He was also a very well- known boxer in the 50's, and boy what a puncher. His son is a very good boxer as well. Anyway, good luck to Denis, and lets hope some employment will come to the area. Milltown Road was covered with mackeral after the side-board of a lorry came loose. What a mess and smell, the road was closed for four days. The sea-gulls were the worst of all and all the houses were like they were snow covered with their drippings. But as Doalty says, "there were always a few gulls in that area" • You are all crying- into your beer now and all thanks to the Carrot the Parrot 11 Spring 11 ed·. They . should be taken out- to Owey Island for a few years, so ~;illiam says. . (No relation to young William in England). 11 T4e Listener".
