The annual :-\e::ratta \-:as held at Kincasslagh f-ier on 3undav und the crowd braved the veathe r t o see a great· days s \ iff rac ing. The teams that \-rere in attendance we re all frori. the up; er side of the Gweebarra w'th the exception of the local teams and l iullaebduff/Annagry teams. Donegal Eens won the senior skiff section with i:illybegs in second place and Bruckless in third place. ln the ladies section all the tearns were froP.J the upper side of the Qweebarra and Killybegs ran out winners with Ardara in second place and Tullycleave in third place. In the junior section Ardara were v i ctorious with Donegal in second place and Kincasslagh in third place. There was an entry of 23 teaL1S and only four of these were from the il.osses. The starters of the races were Dom ~1c Devitt, ?rancie l:c Bride and John ?losco and the judges on the finishing line were Tommy 3oyle, Tullycleave, Jean Gallagher, Annagry and Bill !'-le Garvey, Kincasslagh. ',/hile competing in the East of Ireland Golf Championships r ecently r'r. 1-:c '::ride finished in a very respectable seventi1 place. Everj -hody in the area w.i sh Phil iJ ard a speedy reoovery from a back i nj•.1ry ~1hi ch he incurred. .Salmon fishing has begun in the area with some good catches recorded but the pr.' cc has fallen to a very low : 1.35 per pound. ':-1 ork has cornmenced on the extension of the fish proce:>sing plant at 1\incaiL>lagh l'ier and we only hope this vill be the f i rst of many such projects in the area. The l ongest ti1ned pull in tug o var was recorded in Annagry r ecently between Kincasslagh and Glenties, it lasted ~- m ins . and a(iain the Burtonport and r: i. ncass lagh pull lasted 5 nins.
