THE LOWER ROSSES The local Bazaar was a great success and about £1,100 was raised. But poor Nancy was caught on the hop. People in Acres and Lackenagh thought a shoot-out was going on between the Irish army and locals. But it was only dogs being put down. A few army sarazans were in the area at the same time. Two new men in t he fish fillet business. Denis B. is now the main man in Campbell's while Connie B. has started in Gortnasade. " New car in Lackenagh - Tony Ward has moved from a Mini to a Mini-Metro. It is bad when local youth branch members who are doing a good job and hold meetings in the local curates house are being intimidated by young thug's. It 1 s sad when the P.P. has to dondemn it off the altert Animals are .still wandering on the highways and byvays. Some people never learn. What local establishment hasn't lost its custom although it's been closed for some time? It seems the recession hasn't affected some "people". Eddie had a great holiday in Roscommon. He milked the goat and fed the ducks every day. Mary's neighbour gave him a haircut. It was a very bad cut and Eddie told everybody the goat got at it. Mary bought 13 day old chicks, but they were all roosters. Eddie put 6 eggs in with them. Trevor was delighted and he thought the roosters must be hens at'ter all. Mary was confused until she saw Eddie laughing so she sent the goat at'ter him for real. Trevor can't understand why the hens haven't laid since.
